Canadian medicine treats Afghan toddler
Two-year-old Sanjed lives with his family in Dehdana village, Kabul Province, Afghanistan. Today he is at the Family Health Center of the CURE Hospital in Kabul, recovering from an accident at home.
According to his mother, Sanjed was playing in the living room one day as she was busy in another part of the house. She heard his shout, and when she went to investigate, she realized that he had touched the uncovered wire from the water pump. He had received a very bad electrical shock.
"We took him immediately to the Family Health Center," she says. "After a complete check-up he was admitted to the pediatric ward."
The doctors have been treating Sanjed with medicine from HPIC and he is improving, thanks to a mother who knew where to go when her child needed care.
HPIC has committed to provide $3 million of essential medicines and hospital supplies to the CURE International Hospital in Kabul over a two-year period.
