On November 19 HPIC was honored to welcome guests from the Canadian government and the Canadian pharmaceutical industry to a small reception to celebrate our reaching the important milestone of providing $400 million in medical aid to the developing world.
The gathering was held in the Parliamentary Dining Room at the Houses of Parliament and was hosted by Brian Jean, MP. HPIC was pleased to welcome MPs and senior executives from the pharmaceutical industry to mark the important event. Keynote speakers included Glen Shepherd, President of HPIC, Lois Brown, Parliamentary Secretary to CIDA and the Ambassador of Afghanistan, His Excellency Barna Karimi.
Labour Minister Lisa Raitt, Transport Minister Stephen Fletcher and the Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews joined the celebration and congratulated HPIC on making a significant contribution on behalf of Canadians to the health of those in the developing world.
Our strong partnerships in Ottawa and around the country have allowed HPIC to make a difference in people’s lives around the world since 1990 with our efforts to provide essential medicines in the developing world, our crucial emergency response work and capacity building development programs.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our guests who joined us to mark this memorable event.
