Make something special
HPIC has been blessed by the art of knitters, crocheters, and seamstresses that reside around Canada. They donate their time to make beautiful handmade creations that bless vulnerable people around the world.
How it all started
Master Corporal Mark Isfeld was a Canadian peacekeeper whose mother created the Izzy Doll so he would have something to give to children he met while on missions. In 1994, Mark was killed by a land mine explosion while serving in Croatia. The tradition was carried on by his comrades, and today, by HPIC. To date, over a million Izzy Dolls have been given out around the world!
How it works
Our medical kits need to be packed in a safe and secure manner in order to protect the medicines as they are shipped and carried around the world. Rather than using styrofoam or other materials that will be thrown out, HPIC uses Izzy Dolls.
The Izzy Dolls serve a dual purpose: they help us pack our HMKs in an environmentally sustainable way, and they bring joy to sick children living in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
In the past several years, we have expanded our handmade creations to include baby hats, baby blankets, and scale slings that are needed in many of the communities we work in.
How You Can Help
We have received enough baby blankets and hats at this time but we are currently in need of more Izzy Dolls.

These special handmade dolls will be given to children around the world. Sometimes the doll is a child’s first toy.
