OUR WORK
Emergency Response
With 35 years of experience, HPIC leverages a robust partner network and expansive global reach to quickly and effectively respond to natural disasters, conflicts, and the needs of displaced people and refugees

Our Approach
Responding to emergencies in the immediate aftermath of disaster is at the core of what HPIC does. Because of our unique relationship with the Canadian pharmaceutical industry, we are able to quickly coordinate with in-country partners to respond and get medicines to the people who need them most.
When a disaster strikes, we take the following steps to formulate an immediate response and identify long-term development needs:
- Work with partners on the ground to identify urgent medical needs
- Coordinate an official response with local partners
- Respond with medical aid as needed
- Help local health systems recover and strengthen long-term
How We Respond

Natural and Climate Disasters
From cyclones and hurricanes to flooding and earthquakes, HPIC has been responding to natural and climate disasters around the world since its inception in 1990. HPIC sends HMKs to partners on the ground immediately after a disaster and continues to send medical aid at the partner's request until the medical system is able to recover from the disaster.

Conflict
Conflict around the world is on the rise with over 50 active conflicts taking place at any given time. HPIC is committed to providing humanitarian assistance wherever needed, guided by the principles of humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality. HPIC will send aid to civilians affected by conflict ensuring equitable access to healthcare.

Displaced People and Refugees
There are over 110 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. This figure has more than doubled since 2011 as a result of conflict, political unrest and climate change. HPIC supports refugees and those who are displaced by sending medical aid to refugee camps around the world and ensuring they have access to essential medicines.
